View from our Airbnb. The ocean is pretty rough today. I can hear it as I’m laying here waiting for sleep. After a pretty easy three hour direct flight from Denver to Norfolk Virginia we took an approximately 40 minute drive to our Airbnb in Sandbridge Virginia.
Sandbridge is the southern part of Virginia Beach. I don’t know much yet about the history of Sandbridge but our daughter-in-law is a native so we will learn from her this week what makes this area of the country so special. We’ve been here once before for a short visit but we’re hoping to get a real feel for Virginia Beach with this trip. We started very early this morning and I’ve been awake almost 24hours so I will be posting tomorrow about some of the things we have explored and what we have planned for the rest of the week.
Our AirBnb is really nice. I think this would be priced way out of our league if it wasn’t off season. The condo is only steps from the beach. The location couldn’t be more perfect for us. It’s not in the tourist area of Virginia Beach but this little piece of sand between the Atlantic Ocean and another body of water called Back Bay is where our daughter-in-law was lucky enough to grow up, we benefit from her knowledge of the area.
We were able to book in The Sanctuary condos in Sandbridge, Virginia. We just have to walk downstairs to be on a beautiful beach that, at least at this time of year we basically have to ourselves.
It’s cold here in January, but the flights are cheap and, if you’re not interested in spending any time actually in the ocean you can really find some great deals. There are many things to do in Virginia Beach in the winter.
Like I mentioned before, it’s cold here in January. This is the coldest day for the week we have here but our two grandsons that came with us from Colorado are really enjoying our beach time, cold or not.
